  • Providing a high standard of care that supports residents achieve maximum independence by meeting daily living and personal requirements within the care plan, and with consideration of individual preferences
  • Providing direct resident care including assisting with personal hygiene, showering, dressing and toileting
  • Providing direct resident care in relation to assisting with meals service, mobility, and social support
  • Providing general resident support including making resident beds, tidying their room, and offering companionship
  • Preparing the resident dining rooms for meal service and cleaning away at the end of a meal service
  • Assisting residents who wish to participate in leisure and lifestyle activities
  • Promptly responding to resident call buttons for assistance
  • Promptly reporting any changes in resident health status to the Registered Nurse on duty

  • Closely following all safety policies and procedures, being vigilant for risk and promptly reporting all hazards.  For example, always performing ‘two-assist’ resident mobility manoeuvres with the assistance of a colleague
  • Proactively maintaining an awareness and understanding of all Catholic Healthcare policies and procedures, seeking further clarification from management whenever necessary
  • Maintaining timely and accurate resident healthcare records within the eCase database
  • Documenting resident observations, progress notes, and worklog completions appropriately to ensure accurate records are maintained within eCase in support of AN-ACC (Australian National Aged Care Classification) requirements
  • Maintaining your duty of confidentiality relating to residents, volunteers, and employees, ensuring that any confidential information that becomes known through the course your employment remains confidential

What you need to succeed…

 

  • Completion of Cert III or Cert IV qualifications in aged care, independent support, or similar
  • Previous experience working within a residential aged care facility
  • Warm and empathetic interpersonal skills, with experience interacting with a wide range of people
  • Ability to establish and maintain professional and appropriate relationships with residents and their families

 

 

  • Commitment to respecting the values, customs, preferences, and spiritual beliefs of residents
  • Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English
  • Excellent time-management and prioritization skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of workplace health and safety
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team
